I will design a professional ebook and KDP-ready book cover

About this gig

I design a professional, sales-driven ebook and KDP-ready book cover that looks at home next to traditionally published titles and survives the brutal thumbnail test.

What you get

  • A custom-designed front cover built specifically for your book's genre, tone, and target reader, delivered as a high-resolution print-ready file plus a separate ebook-optimized version.
  • A KDP-ready print wrap (front cover + spine + back cover as a single flattened file) sized to your exact page count, trim size, and paper type, so it drops straight into the Amazon KDP print uploader.
  • A dedicated ebook cover at the correct aspect ratio and pixel dimensions for Kindle and other major ebook retailers, optimized to stay crisp and legible at thumbnail size.
  • Genre-appropriate typography and title treatment — carefully chosen and paired fonts, hierarchy between title, subtitle, and author name, and effects (embossing-look, glow, texture) that match reader expectations for your category.
  • A spine with correctly oriented title and author text plus your background carried across, calculated for your page count and paper choice so nothing gets trimmed off.
  • A back cover layout with space arranged for your blurb, author bio, and an ISBN/barcode placeholder positioned in the KDP-safe zone.
  • Final files exported in the formats you need: print-ready PDF (CMYK, flattened, with bleed and safe margins), plus high-resolution JPG/PNG for the ebook and for promotional use.
  • A short handover note listing the exact dimensions, fonts used, and KDP upload settings so your file passes review on the first try.

How it works

  1. You share the brief. Send me your title, subtitle, author name, genre, a one-line description of the book, any mood/competitor covers you like, and (for print) your trim size, page count, and paper type. The more direction you give, the closer the first draft lands.
  2. I research and plan. I look at what currently sells in your category, identify the visual cues readers in that genre expect, and map out a direction for composition, color, and type before designing anything.
  3. I design the first concept(s). You receive the agreed number of front-cover concepts as preview images so you can react to the overall direction.
  4. We refine together. You pick a direction and send consolidated feedback; I iterate within the revision rounds of your chosen plan, tightening type, color, imagery, and balance until it's right.
  5. I build the full wrap (Standard/Premium). Once the front is approved, I extend the design into the spine and back cover, fit your blurb and bio space, and place the barcode zone correctly for your page count.
  6. I deliver final files. You get the print-ready PDF and ebook images, plus the handover note with all the specs and KDP settings you need to upload confidently.

Why choose this

Covers don't sell on artistry alone — they sell by communicating genre and quality in a fraction of a second, at thumbnail size, surrounded by competitors. I design for that reality first: legibility when the cover is two centimeters tall, instant genre signaling, and a title treatment that reads cleanly on a phone screen. The KDP side is handled precisely, not approximately: spine width and wrap dimensions are calculated from your real page count and paper, bleed and safe margins are respected, and files are exported to the specs Amazon's review process actually checks. That means fewer rejected uploads, no last-minute resizing panic, and a cover that looks deliberate rather than templated. You get a designer who treats the brief seriously and is honest about scope, not a one-size-fits-all preset with your title pasted on.

Who it's for / use cases

  • Self-publishing authors launching a novel, novella, or series on Kindle and KDP print who need a cover that competes in their genre.
  • Non-fiction and business authors publishing guides, how-to books, or thought-leadership titles that need a clean, credible, professional look.
  • Coaches, consultants, and creators turning a lead magnet, workbook, or course into a polished ebook.
  • Memoir, poetry, and niche-interest writers who want a distinctive cover that still reads clearly at small sizes.
  • Authors rebranding an existing title or refreshing a tired cover to lift click-through and sales.
  • Anyone needing both formats — a striking ebook thumbnail and a correctly built print wrap from the same coherent design.

FAQ

Q: Do you provide the print wrap, or just the ebook cover? Both are available. Basic covers the front ebook cover only. Standard and Premium include the full KDP print wrap with front, spine, and back built to your exact page count and trim size, plus the matching ebook version.

Q: What do you need from me to start? Your title, subtitle, author name, and genre at minimum. For a print wrap I also need your trim size, final page count, and paper type (white, cream, or color) so the spine width and wrap dimensions are accurate. Any reference covers you like help enormously.

Q: Will the file actually pass KDP's review? That's the goal of every delivery. I export to KDP's required print specs — correct bleed, safe margins, flattened PDF, and a barcode-safe zone — and include a note with the exact upload settings. If KDP flags a sizing issue caused by my file, I'll correct it.

Q: Can you write my blurb or back-cover copy? I design the layout and leave space for your text, but I don't write the blurb or bio. Send me your final copy and I'll set it cleanly; if it arrives after delivery, fitting it falls under your revision rounds.

Q: Do you supply stock images, or do I need to? I source genre-appropriate imagery as part of the design and only use assets that are licensed for commercial book covers. If you have your own photography or illustration you'd like featured, send it at the highest resolution you have.

Q: How many revisions are included? Basic includes one revision round, Standard includes three, and Premium includes unlimited rounds within the agreed concept and scope. Revisions cover refinement of the chosen direction — switching to an entirely new concept after approval is a fresh scope.

Q: Will I get an editable source file? The editable source file is included with the Premium plan. Basic and Standard deliver final flattened print and ebook files. If you expect to make text edits yourself later, choose Premium.

Q: Can you size the cover for retailers beyond Amazon? Yes — additional retailer sizing (for other major ebook stores) is included with Premium. Just tell me which platforms you're publishing to and I'll export the correct dimensions for each.

The cover was nice and the formatting was fine, though I had to ask twice to get the front matter ordered the way I needed. Got there in the end.

Good designer and the interior layout reads nicely on my Kindle. Communication was a little slow at times but the deliverables were quality.

The cover came back looking like something off a bestseller shelf, and the interior formatting was clean enough to upload to KDP without me changing a thing.

Solid work on both the cover and the formatted ebook. Took a couple of revisions to get the title font where I wanted it, but the final result was worth it.

My paperback cover passed KDP's print check on the first try, spine measurements and bleed were all spot on. Really knows their stuff.
