I will create a sewing pattern, tech pack and grading for apparel
About this gig
I will turn your apparel idea or sample into a factory-ready sewing pattern, a complete tech pack, and a full size run so any manufacturer can quote and cut without guesswork.
What you get
Working from your sketch, reference garment, or existing sample, I build the production documentation a factory actually asks for. Every deliverable is created to your specs and shipped to you as a physical package, with the editable digital source files included so you keep full ownership of your design.
- A sewing pattern drafted to your exact measurements or size chart, including seam allowances, grainlines, notches, drill holes, and clearly labelled pattern pieces (front, back, sleeve, facings, pockets, etc.).
- A printed full-scale pattern set on plotter paper, mailed to you ready to lay on fabric and cut. No taping together A4 tiles.
- A complete tech pack covering: flat technical sketches (front and back, plus callouts), a bill of materials (fabrics, trims, threads, labels, zippers, buttons), a construction/stitching page, a colorway page, a measurement spec sheet (points of measure with tolerances), and a label/care/packaging page.
- Graded sizes so one base pattern becomes a full size run (for example XS–XXL, or a numeric range you specify), each size nested and ready for cutting.
- A graded spec / measurement chart listing every point of measure across all sizes, so your factory can QC sample garments against real numbers.
- Editable digital source files (pattern in your preferred CAD/PDF format, tech pack as an editable document and PDF) delivered alongside the printed package.

How it works
- Brief. You send me your sketch, tech drawing, mood/reference images, or a photo of an existing garment, plus your target measurements or size chart and fabric type. The more detail, the tighter the result.
- Questions and confirmation. I review everything and come back with any gaps I need closed (fit intent, ease, closures, finishes). We agree on scope and size range before I start drafting.
- Pattern drafting. I draft the base pattern with correct seam allowances, grain, notches, and labelled pieces, checking proportions against your spec.
- Tech pack build. I create the flats, BOM, construction notes, measurement spec, colorway, and label/packaging page so the document tells a factory exactly how to build the garment.
- Grading. Once the base is approved, I grade it across your full size run and produce the graded measurement chart.
- Review and revisions. You review the digital proofs. We refine within the revision rounds for your plan until the pattern and tech pack are right.
- Print and ship. I print the full-scale pattern set on plotter paper and mail the physical package to your address, with the editable source files delivered digitally.
Why choose this
A vague sketch sent to a factory comes back as a vague (and expensive) sample. A clean pattern plus a proper tech pack removes the back-and-forth, the wrong-fabric surprises, and the "we didn't know it had a lining" emails. I focus on documentation manufacturers can read without calling you: real points of measure, real tolerances, real construction notes. You get both the printed pattern you can hold and cut, and the editable files so you are never locked out of your own design or dependent on me for the next edit.
Who it's for / use cases
- Independent and emerging fashion designers turning a first collection into something a factory can quote.
- Small clothing brands and DTC labels that have a hero sample and need it graded into a full size run.
- Etsy / handmade sellers ready to move from one-off cut-and-sew to repeatable, spec'd production.
- Costume, uniform, activewear, and accessories makers who need consistent sizing across runs.
- Anyone with a great garment idea but no technical pattern or tech pack to hand a manufacturer.
Womenswear, menswear, kids, knits, and wovens are all welcome. Tell me the category and I'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit before we start.
FAQ
Q: What do you need from me to begin? A sketch or reference garment, your target measurements or a size chart, and the fabric type. If you have a sample, a few clear photos with a tape measure in frame help a lot.
Q: Can you work from just a photo or a rough drawing? Yes. Many projects start from a single reference image or a hand sketch. I'll confirm the construction details with you before drafting so we don't guess on fit.
Q: What file formats do I receive? You get the tech pack as an editable document and a PDF, and the pattern as PDF plus an editable CAD/vector file in the format you prefer. Tell me your software and I'll match it where possible.
Q: Do you guarantee the fit will be perfect? I draft to the measurements and ease you provide. Real-world fit is confirmed by sewing a sample (toile) and testing it on a body or form. I build in revision rounds so we can adjust the pattern after you sample it.
Q: What size range can you grade? Standard runs like XS–XXL are common, and I can grade custom or extended ranges on the Premium tier. Just give me the size set you want and your grade rules, or I'll apply standard increments.
Q: Since this is mailed, how long does delivery take? Drafting and the tech pack come first as digital proofs you approve, then I print and ship the physical pattern. I'll confirm a realistic timeline for both the documentation and the mailed package at the start.
Q: Do I own the pattern and files? Yes. The design is yours. You receive the editable source files so you can edit, reprint, or hand them to any manufacturer.
Q: Can you also recommend fabrics or factories? I can advise on fabric weight and trims for the BOM based on your design intent. Sourcing introductions are outside this service, but the tech pack is written so any factory can read and quote it.

Honestly the spec sheet alone was worth it, every BOM line and point of measure laid out so professionally. My manufacturer was impressed.

Really happy with the graded pattern set for my dress. The fit notes in the tech pack were clear and easy to hand off to my sampling team.

Solid pattern and tech pack for my hoodie. Took a couple of revisions to nail the construction notes, but the final files were great.

The pattern itself was fine but the initial tech pack was missing a few callouts I had to ask for. Got sorted in the end.
