I will design a custom 2D character animation with rigging and lip sync
About this gig
I will design a custom 2D character animation with full rigging and accurate lip sync, turning your static character into a living, expressive performer ready for video, ads, explainers, and social content.
What you get
Your character does not just move on screen; it acts. I build a clean, reusable 2D rig and hand-animate motion, expression, and dialogue so the final clip feels deliberate and professional rather than a stock template with a face slapped on.
- A fully rigged 2D character built from your supplied artwork (or a character I prepare from your reference), with separated, named layers for head, eyes, brows, mouth, torso, and limbs.
- A bone/joint rig with parented hierarchy so the body moves naturally — bends at the elbows and knees, weight shift in the hips, follow-through in loose elements like hair, ears, or clothing.
- A mouth/phoneme set for lip sync (typically the standard A, E, I, O, U, M/B/P, F/V, L, and rest shapes) mapped to your audio or script so dialogue reads as genuine speech, not a flapping jaw.
- Hand-keyed body animation: idle breathing, gestures, head turns, blinks, and the specific actions your scene calls for, with proper timing, easing, and anticipation.
- A facial expression range (neutral, happy, surprised, concerned, emphatic, etc.) driven on the rig so the character emotes in sync with the lines.
- Final render exported in the format you need — most commonly 1080p MP4 (H.264), with vertical 9:16, square 1:1, or 16:9 framing on request.
- A transparent-background export (ProRes 4444 or PNG sequence with alpha) when you plan to composite the character over your own footage or backgrounds.
- The animation timed to your provided voiceover, or to a scratch/temp track, with mouth shapes aligned frame by frame.

Exact length, complexity, and turnaround depend on your script and artwork; message me before ordering so I can confirm the right tier and a realistic timeline for your project.
How it works
- Brief and assets. You send me your character artwork (layered PSD/AI/PNG preferred), the voiceover or script, and any reference for tone, pacing, and movement style. If you only have a flat image, tell me — I will scope the extra prep needed to separate it for rigging.
- Scope confirmation. I review your files, confirm the plan, length, framing, and deliverables, and flag anything that affects feasibility (for example, a character drawn in a pose that limits the range of motion).
- Rigging. I separate and clean the artwork into movable parts, build the bone hierarchy, and set up the mouth shapes and facial controls. This is the foundation that makes the animation smooth and editable.
- Animation pass. I block the key poses, set timing and spacing, then refine the in-betweens, add secondary motion, blinks, and breathing so the performance feels alive.
- Lip sync pass. I align the mouth shapes to your audio, syllable by syllable, and tune the jaw and expression so the dialogue is readable and natural.
- Draft delivery. You receive a watermarked preview to review. You give consolidated, time-stamped feedback.
- Revisions and final. I apply your notes within the revision count for your tier, then deliver the final render(s) in your chosen formats.
Why choose this
This is hands-on, hand-keyed animation — not an auto-generated avatar or a drag-and-drop preset. Every gesture, blink, and mouth shape is placed with intent, which is the difference between a character that looks cheap and one that holds an audience's attention.
Because I build a proper rig, the work is reusable. If you come back for a second scene or a new line of dialogue, the same character can be re-animated far faster than starting over. I keep the layer structure clean and named so the file is workable, not a tangle.
I communicate in plain terms about what is and is not possible with your specific artwork. If something will not animate well, I tell you before you order — not after.
Who it's for / use cases
- Explainer and SaaS videos where a friendly mascot or host walks viewers through a product.
- YouTube and social creators who want a recurring animated character or avatar that actually speaks their lines.
- Ads and promos needing a short, punchy character moment with synced dialogue.
- Educational and e-learning content where a guide character delivers narration.
- Brand mascots that need to come to life across campaigns.
- Indie games and apps needing a talking character for a trailer, cutscene, or intro.
- Podcasters and streamers wanting an animated talking-head version of their host or logo character.
FAQ
Q: Do I need to provide my own character artwork? Ideally yes — a layered file (PSD or AI) gives the cleanest, fastest rig. If you only have a flat image or a rough reference, message me first; I can prepare the artwork for rigging as added scope, or advise what to send.
Q: How should I supply the voiceover for lip sync? Send a clean WAV or MP3 of the final voiceover whenever possible. I can animate to a temporary/scratch track and re-sync to the final audio, but re-syncing after the final mouth pass may count as a revision.
Q: What software do you use, and can I get the editable source file? I work in industry-standard 2D animation tooling. Source/rig file delivery is optional on Standard and included on Premium, so you can reuse or extend the rig later. Confirm this before ordering if it matters to you.
Q: Can you animate a full scene with a background? Yes — Basic ships on a transparent or solid background so you can composite, while Standard and Premium include a static or custom background. For complex multi-element environments, tell me the details so I can scope it correctly.
Q: How many revisions are included? One on Basic, two on Standard, and three on Premium. Revisions cover refinements to the agreed animation; new lines, added length, or a redesigned character are treated as new scope.
Q: What formats will I receive? Most projects ship as 1080p MP4 (H.264). I also provide transparent exports (ProRes 4444 or PNG sequence) on the relevant tiers, plus vertical, square, or widescreen framing for social platforms on request.
Q: Can you make the character loop seamlessly? Yes — idle loops, talking loops, and background-character loops are all doable. Let me know it needs to loop up front so I plan the first and last frames to match.
Q: How long does it take? Turnaround depends on length and complexity. Short clips move quickly; longer, multi-action pieces with full lip sync need more time. I confirm a realistic delivery window when we lock the scope before you order.

Solid character animation with proper bone rigging. Lip sync lined up well with my script once I sent the audio file.
- @wavex★★★★★5
The lip sync detail is what sold me, every syllable matches. The rigging also lets me reuse the character for future clips.

Super happy with the 2D animation. The rig made the arms and head bend in a believable way and the talking looks real.
- @noraio★★★★★5
Mouth shapes for every vowel were spot on and the body movement felt alive. Will be ordering more characters for my series.

I sent over a flat illustration and got back a fully rigged character that talks. The lip sync syncs frame for frame with my voiceover.

Quick to understand what I wanted and delivered a rigged character whose lips actually match the words. Couldn't be happier.

The rig was so clean and the lip sync matched my dialogue track perfectly. Honestly blown away by how smooth the mouth movements turned out.

My mascot character came to life with the animation. The joints all move naturally and nothing looks stiff.

The final rig works and the lip sync is decent, but a couple of the phonemes looked off until I asked for a revision.

Great rigging work and the lip sync was on point. Took a little back and forth to nail the eyebrow expressions but we got there.
