I will do high-end skin retouching for portraits and beauty photos

About this gig

I will do high-end skin retouching for portraits and beauty photos, keeping real texture, even tone, and a natural finish that holds up to print and full-screen viewing.

What you get

I retouch portrait and beauty images the way magazine and commercial photographers expect: clean, controlled, and believable. Most of my work is built on frequency separation and dodge & burn, the two techniques that let me fix blemishes and uneven tone without turning skin into plastic. I work on a full-resolution copy of your file, on separate non-destructive layers, so nothing in your original is ever flattened or lost.

  • Blemish and distraction removal — spots, breakouts, dry patches, stray flyaway hairs, lint, dust on the lens, and temporary marks all cleaned up.
  • Even skin tone — I balance blotchy redness, dark circles, and uneven patches across the face, neck, and any visible skin (shoulders, hands, décolletage) so the complexion reads smooth but still alive.
  • Texture preserved, not erased — pores, fine lines, and natural skin grain stay intact. I smooth the transitions in tone and luminosity, not the skin itself, which is what separates high-end retouching from a blur filter.
  • Dodge & burn — I rebuild the play of light and shadow on the face to sculpt cheekbones, jaw, and nose, and to smooth harsh hotspots or muddy shadows the lighting left behind.
  • Eyes, teeth, and lips — subtle brightening and clarity on the eyes, gentle whitening of teeth (kept realistic, never blue-white), and tidied lip edges and color.
  • Hair cleanup — taming flyaways along the hairline and filling small gaps, within reason for a single still image.
  • Color and contrast pass — a finishing grade so the whole frame sits together, with correct white balance and pleasing contrast.
  • Delivered files — a full-resolution retouched JPG plus, on the higher tiers, a layered PSD/TIFF so your team can adjust later. Standard outputs are sRGB; I can deliver Adobe RGB or a specific profile on request.

I do not do body reshaping, liquify slimming, age reduction beyond honest cleanup, or anything that misrepresents a person, unless you specifically request and approve it in writing. My default is to make someone look like the best, well-rested version of themselves, not a different person.

How it works

  1. Send your files. Upload the original full-resolution images (JPG, PNG, TIFF, or PSD). RAW-converted TIFFs give me the most latitude. Tell me the end use: print, web, social, e-commerce, or portfolio.
  2. Share your direction. Point me to a reference look if you have one, and flag anything to keep (a beauty mark, a scar, freckles) or anything that bothers you. Clear notes here save revision rounds.
  3. I retouch. I work non-destructively on layers, checking the result at 100% zoom and again fit-to-screen, because skin can look perfect at one zoom and wrong at another.
  4. You review a preview. I send a watermarked or web-size proof first so you can confirm the direction before I finalize.
  5. Revisions. You request adjustments within the included rounds; I refine.
  6. Final delivery. You receive the clean, full-resolution files (and the layered file on Premium) ready to use.

Why choose this

The difference between cheap retouching and high-end retouching is restraint. Anyone can run a smoothing slider; the result is the waxy, poreless look that instantly signals "edited." I work pixel-level on tone and light so the skin stays photographic. I match grain, respect the original lighting, and keep edits invisible. I also treat your images as confidential and never reuse them without permission. You get clear communication, honest scope, and files that survive close inspection and large print sizes.

Who it's for / use cases

  • Portrait and headshot photographers outsourcing post so they can keep shooting.
  • Beauty and makeup artists building clean portfolios and before/after sets.
  • Models and actors who need polished comp cards and headshots.
  • Brands and e-commerce needing consistent, believable skin across a product or campaign shoot.
  • Weddings and events for hero portraits worth extra attention.
  • Personal branding, LinkedIn, and PR headshots that should look like the real you on a good day.

FAQ

Q: Will the skin still look natural? Yes. Preserving real texture is the entire point of my approach. I smooth tone and light transitions, not pores, so the result reads as a great photo rather than an obvious edit.

Q: What file format should I send? Send the highest quality you have: a 16-bit TIFF from your RAW gives the best results, but a high-resolution JPG or PNG works well too. Avoid heavily compressed or social-media-downloaded images, since lost detail can't be recovered.

Q: Can you reshape the face or body? That falls outside my default skin-retouching scope. I can discuss light liquify or contouring as an add-on, but only with your explicit written approval, and I won't alter someone's appearance in a misleading way.

Q: How many revisions are included? One on Basic, two on Standard, and three on Premium. I send a preview first specifically to catch direction issues before they eat into your revision rounds.

Q: Do I keep full rights to the images? Yes. They're your photographs. I make no ownership claim, and I won't display or share your files publicly without your permission.

Q: Can you match a consistent look across a whole set? Yes, that's what the Standard and Premium tiers are built for. Send the batch together and tell me which frame is your reference, and I'll keep tone, contrast, and finish consistent across all of them.

Q: What if my photo is low resolution or out of focus? I'll still improve tone and remove distractions, but retouching can't add detail that the camera never captured. If an image is too soft to rescue, I'll tell you honestly before starting rather than overpromise.

Q: How do you handle privacy for sensitive shoots? Your files stay confidential. I don't add them to a portfolio, share before/after examples, or reuse them anywhere unless you give me written permission first.

The skin retouching itself was solid and the texture held up well. That said, I had to send two rounds of notes to get the color cast on the forehead corrected, and the delivery ran a day past what we agreed. Decent result in the end but the back-and-forth took longer than I expected.

Really clean frequency separation and the blemish removal was spot on. I asked for slightly more contrast in the final pass and they revised it same day without any fuss. Only knocking a star because the first version was a touch too soft for my taste.

Perfect for my editorial beauty shoot. They kept the freckles I wanted and just cleaned up the redness.

As a wedding photographer I outsource my close-up portraits here and the dodge-and-burn work is genuinely high-end. Skin looks natural in print.

Sent over a batch of beauty headshots for my skincare brand campaign and the retouching kept every pore and texture detail intact while evening out the skin tones. No plastic, airbrushed look at all. Turnaround was under 48 hours.

I run a modeling agency and needed 20 comp card portraits retouched consistently. Every face came back with flawless but believable skin, matched lighting, and the eyes and lips were subtly enhanced exactly how I described. Communication throughout was excellent.
